Year Six enjoyed a geography field trip in September visiting two locations on the River Nene, one at a tributary, ‘Harper’s Brook’ in Lowick and the other at Oundle Wharf. The children collated data to find out how a river changes flow downstream. They measured the velocity and width of the river, took photographs and drew sketches to support their work back in the classroom. The children analysed data and constructed a River Channel Cross-section diagram to conclude their findings on flow changes at different points of the river.

Mrs Hill said, “the children collaborated brilliantly, worked as a close team and listened well to each other during their investigation. We had a lot of fun on the field trip and when analysing the data.”
