We are committed to ensuring that our pupils contribute positively to the lives of others and gain an understanding of the world beyond their own. In Reception, this starts with children simply looking out for themselves and each other but by the end of their time at LJS, our pupils are able to look out beyond the confines of their immediate world to the society in which they live.

Events and Charity support

Our children and staff are actively engaged with our local community. We host regular performance events throughout the year for local residents, including those from local care homes and hospitals, such as our lunch time ‘Community Concerts’ and our ‘Sense Sensation’ afternoons. We are also dedicated to supporting local charities and organisations through a variety of fund-raising activities as well as supporting our local parish through artwork donations.

The OPEN Learning Partnership

In 2018, we became a founding member of the Oundle, Peterborough and East Northants (OPEN) Learning Partnership. Alongside Oundle School and four schools from the maintained sector (Thomas Deacon Academy, Kettering Buccleuch Academy, Prince William School and Oundle CE Primary School), the OPEN Learning Partnership aims to increase opportunities for all children and allow the sharing of best practice between schools. This partnership brings together children and staff for the mutual benefit of all and has already provided improved access to the arts, sports, STEM and modern languages, as well as environmental and academic enrichment activities through workshops, whole-day events, inter-school competitions and CPD sessions.

“I am currently doing LJS chess through Community Action. I really enjoy this activity, because when you have to teach someone else, it also improves your understanding, so I have also learnt a lot from this experience as well.
