A remarkable feat of community spirit and athleticism unfolded at Oundle School Sports Centre on Sunday 12 May as over 130 LJS pupils took part in the Knight Frank Schools Triathlon, the UK’s largest fundraising event for children. In teams of four, a total of 1000 children from across the region participated in swimming, cycling and running – covering a combined distance equivalent to the journey from Oundle to Barcelona. In total Oundle’s event raised over £80,000 for Restless Development and numerous other charities chosen by the participating schools.

This was the third year that Oundle School has hosted and LJS has participated in this event. It is truly a community centred day, with local businesses and over 2,000 attendees coming together for the feel-good event. Generous volunteers and Oundle pupils kindly gave up their Sunday to ensure the event ran smoothly.

Nick Beasant, Director of Sport at Oundle School said, “We are delighted to host the Knight Frank Schools Triathlon at Oundle for the third year running. It’s always a fantastic event and it’s inspiring to see so many young people come together, not just for the love of sport, but to make a real difference with their fundraising for Restless Development and their chosen school charities – well done to them all. A huge thank you must go to the 100+ Oundle School pupils who volunteered their time – the event would simply not have been possible without their support and efforts throughout. We look forward to continuing the tradition and welcoming even more participants to Oundle next year”.

Our children put in their best efforts at the event; giving their all to the swimming, cycling and running. There were smiles all round and an inspirational feeling of team spirit as the children all cheered each other on from the start to the finish line, working together to complete the full course.

Restless Development is global charity that supports vulnerable young people across the world and is the charity behind the Knight Frank Schools Triathlon Series; the UK’s largest sport fundraising event for 7-13 year olds.

We are extremely proud of our children for taking part in such an important event for the third year running! We can’t wait to see how next year goes…
