Members of our Year 6 Swim Squad recently had the exciting opportunity to attend a Gym and Swim Clinic at Oundle School, where they enjoyed an afternoon of specialist coaching, fitness training and swimming development.

The clinic provided a fantastic insight into the dedication and preparation that goes into becoming a successful swimmer. The pupils began their visit with a gym-based session focusing on strength, balance, coordination and agility. Through a range of engaging activities, they discovered how training outside the pool can help improve performance in the water.

The group then moved to the swimming pool to work with experienced coaches on a variety of technical drills. The session focused on refining key aspects of their swimming, including stroke technique, starts, turns and race skills. The pupils embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and showed great determination throughout the afternoon.

As well as developing their swimming ability, the clinic gave our pupils the opportunity to experience training in a high-performance sporting environment. They returned to school inspired, with plenty of new ideas to take into their own training.

We are extremely grateful to Oundle School for hosting such an engaging and informative session. Opportunities like these help to broaden our pupils’ sporting experiences, build confidence and inspire them to continue striving for improvement.

This was an ideal opportunity for aspiring swimmers in Year 5 and 6 to attend a focussed and engaging training day, supporting skill development in the water alongside athletic development on dry land.

The timing could not be better, as our Swim Squad has an exciting season ahead, with a busy programme of galas and competitions to look forward to. The skills, knowledge and motivation gained from the clinic will undoubtedly help our swimmers as they prepare to represent the school in the months ahead.

Well done to all of the Year 6 pupils who attended. They represented the school superbly and are looking forward to putting their new skills into practice as the season gets underway.
