We are delighted to announce an exciting development for our Year 6 pupils from September 2026, as they will begin timetabled Design Engineering and Technology lessons at Oundle School’s outstanding Patrick Engineering Centre.
This state-of-the-art facility is widely recognised for its excellence in design, engineering and technology education. Within the centre, pupils have access to a remarkable range of specialist resources and spaces, including dedicated design studios, open-plan workshop bays, and advanced manufacturing facilities. Here, learners can explore cutting-edge skills such as robotics, programming, product development, and computer-aided design and manufacture.
The building is also equipped with industry-level technology, including the capability to 3D print in a wide variety of materials (from plastics to metals such as titanium) making it one of the most advanced school facilities of its kind in the country. Pupils benefit from an environment that feels more like a professional engineering workspace than a traditional classroom, encouraging independence, creativity, and real-world problem-solving.
Additionally, the centre features extensive workshop areas for working with both wood and metal, alongside large project spaces where ambitious builds such as vehicles and engineering prototypes can take shape. This dynamic setting will allow our Year 6 pupils to experience hands-on learning at the highest level.
This opportunity further strengthens our valued partnership with Oundle School and adds to the wide range of exceptional facilities our pupils already benefit from, including:
- Extensive sports pitches, netball courts, athletics track, grass wicket cricket pitches and hockey astros
- A state-of-the-art swimming pool and sports centre
- The inspiring Yarrow art gallery
- The Stahl theatre and performing arts centre
- St Anthony’s Chapel
- The cutting-edge Sci-Tec block
By extending our access to such outstanding resources, we continue to enrich the educational experience we offer, ensuring our pupils benefit from a broad and future-focused curriculum.
We are very much looking forward to seeing our Year 6 pupils thrive in this exciting new chapter of their learning.
