From September 2027, Laxton Junior School will be renamed Oundle Prep School, known on a day to day basis as Oundle Prep. The new name reflects the relationship with Oundle School that has always existed and gives the school a clearer identity for the future. It strengthens the school for the future without changing what makes it distinctive: its own leadership, character and educational approach.

Founded in 1973, Laxton Junior School is an integral part of Oundle School, educating children between the ages of 4 – 11. The vast majority of pupils progress to Oundle School once they have completed their education with LJS.
Our five core values (Care, Quality, Love of Learning, Opportunity, and Community) are our guiding principles, shaping both our behaviours as a school community and our decisions. Our mission encourages children to develop key characteristics that will set them up for life. Our strategic objectives enable us to achieve our mission, ensuring we focus continually on providing a Prep School education of the highest class, both now and into the future.
