Laxton Junior School was delighted to welcome families, friends and four‑legged companions to our annual Community Dog Show at the weekend, a joyful event that brought our school community together while making a meaningful global difference.
Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of everyone who attended, we are proud to share that over £500 was raised for Tasaaga Primary School in Uganda, our long‑standing partner school. Every entry, donation and slice of cake contributed towards supporting pupils at Tasaaga with access to education, resources and opportunities that can transform lives.
The school grounds were alive with energy as dogs of all shapes and sizes took centre stage in a wide range of fun classes, from Waggiest Tail and Dog Most Like Its Owner to the ever‑popular Fancy Dress and Best in Show. Children loved taking part as handlers, cheering on their favourites and enjoying the dog agility activiy, while families gathered to soak up the atmosphere.
Thank you to Oundle Vets, whose stall proved a real highlight, offering children the chance to learn more about animal care in such an engaging way. We are also hugely grateful to everyone who volunteered their time, baked, donated, entered a class or simply came along to support the event.
Events like this perfectly reflect the ethos of Laxton Junior School: valuing community, kindness and
connection beyond our own gates. Supporting Tasaaga Primary School enables our pupils to understand that even small actions, when taken together, can have a powerful impact across the world.
We are immensely proud of our pupils and families for once again demonstrating what can be achieved when a community works together. Thank you for helping to make this year’s Community Dog Show a celebration of fun, friendship and global responsibility.
Finally, many thanks to Mrs Tessa Humphrey for her hard work in organising the event!
