This week, a group of our Year 5 and 6 singers enjoyed a very special musical experience with a visit to St Peter’s Church, where they had the opportunity to hear former Laxton Junior School pupil Emy perform repertoire from her Musical Theatre Diploma.

The children were captivated by Emy’s confident and expressive performance and thoroughly enjoyed hearing such a wide range of musical theatre pieces performed to an exceptionally high standard. We are incredibly proud of Emy, who achieved an outstanding full‑marks result in her diploma,  a tremendous achievement and a true testament to her talent and hard work.

Our fantastic singing teacher, Mr Slane, accompanied the children on the visit. Mr Slane taught Emy during her time at LJS and has continued to support her musical journey for the past three years at Oundle School. This enduring connection is a wonderful example of how strong musical foundations can support long‑term success.

The visit was an inspiring experience for our pupils and a powerful reminder of where a passion for music can lead. At Laxton Junior School, singing lessons begin in Year 1 when children are just five years old, giving them the opportunity to build confidence, develop skills and nurture a lifelong love of music, helping them to truly reach their full potential.

We are delighted that our pupils were able to witness such a fantastic example of musical excellence and aspiration.
