We are delighted to share that Laxton Junior School has once again been recognised as a Trinity Champion Centre for 2026–2027,  for our successful delivery of Trinity qualifications in music, marking our second consecutive year receiving this prestigious accolade from Trinity College London.

This recognition celebrates our continued commitment to delivering high-quality music education through Trinity’s qualifications. It reflects not only the strength of our music provision, but also the enthusiasm, dedication and creativity of our pupils and staff and especially our Head of Music. Miss Nina Haynes.

Trinity Champion Centres are selected for their excellent delivery of Trinity qualifications and their role in inspiring other schools and organisations to embrace music education. Champion Centres demonstrate innovation in teaching, strong outcomes and a meaningful impact on learners.

At Laxton Junior School, we firmly believe in the power of music to build confidence, communication skills and creativity. This award recognises:

  • Our successful delivery of Trinity qualifications
  • The engaging and inclusive opportunities we provide for performance
  • The positive impact music has on our pupils’ development

We are especially proud that over 90% of our children learn a musical instrument, beginning their musical journey from Reception. Pupils regularly showcase their talents through our community lunchtime concerts, end-of-term music concerts, House Music and a wide range of ensembles.

Our commitment to high standards is reflected in our exceptional exam outcomes, with a 100% pass rate in Trinity music exams 2026, including 40% achieving Distinction and 42% achieving Merit.

From performances to assessments, our children demonstrate resilience, expression and a real passion for music, skills that support them both in and beyond the classroom.

We are excited to continue building on this success over the coming year, offering even more opportunities for our pupils to grow as confident performers and musicians.

As part of a global network of Trinity Champion Centres, we look forward to sharing our practice, celebrating music and continuing to champion the importance of music education.
