The extra-curricular activities programme is extremely varied and caters for all interests and age-groups. From Arts Award to Watercolours, Ballet to Yoga, Gardening to Quiz Club, we’ve got it all!

Musical activities take place at lunchtimes. There are ensembles for brass, strings and percussion, as well as three choirs. All are popular and offered to enhance the learning that takes place in individual and curriculum lessons.  Chess is offered as a lunchtime activity as well as an after school club for KS2 children.

After school activities generally run from 3.45pm to 4.45pm and are led by both Laxton Junior  staff and outside agencies for all the children from Reception to Year Six. Clubs vary from Quarter to Quarter but can range from sporting clubs such as Tennis, Netball and Cross Country to more artistic, although no less exciting, pastimes including Knitting, Art Detective and Drama. Brains can be stretched too – Debating, Science and ‘Manic Maths’ have all proved to be popular.

Yoga, Karate and Ballet are all taught by experienced professionals. The children can even learn how to save lives in the British Heart Foundation (BHF) endorsed HeartStart club which is run by Laxton Junior staff who have been trained to use the resources provided by the BHF.

Clubs, which are run by external staff, attract a termly charge which will be added to the bill in arrears – this is made clear on the information which is sent out at the end of each Quarter. Parents are asked to sign up their children for each Quarter’s Clubs at the end of the preceding Quarter. We ask that once the child has made a commitment to attend a Club, they do so for the duration of a Quarter.

A Prep club is available Monday to Thursday for KS2 children, which allows them to complete any Prep before they go home.
