Academic » Music
Music is one of the School’s particular strengths. The School has developed a nationally renowned string project; all Year 2 pupils learn to play either the violin or the cello. This is part of their normal timetabled music lessons.
There are various choirs who perform at concerts and assemblies; gaining entry, via an audition, is seen as most prestigious amongst the pupils.
On several occasions during each term, we have a “Come and Play” session during the lunch break when children learning instruments will play an informal concert for the other children and staff. This will focus on a different section of the orchestra each time.
More formal concerts happen in Friday afternoon assemblies; parents are welcome to attend these and the children relish the opportunity to play or sing to a larger audience.
